Laminated Glass
Strength, Beauty and Safety
Laminated glass is a multifunctional glazing material that can be used in a variety of decorative, safety, and architectural applications. It is manufactured by permanently bonding two or more sheets of glass with a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer under heat and pressure to create a single unit.
When broken by impact, laminated glass tends to maintain the building envelope by remaining integral in its frame. This minimizes the risk of injury from sharp edges and flying or falling glass particles. It also strongly resists penetration of objects. Laminated glass is particularly suitable where it is important to ensure integrity of the whole sheet after breakage.
