Plexiglass
Plexiglass is a type of plastic that can be used in both industrial and decorative applications. It is typically made from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) which has the same chemical composition as glass, but a different molecular structure. Plexiglass is durable, lightweight, and shatter-resistant making it an excellent material for use in windows or other large panels.
Lexan
Lexan is a trademark for polycarbonate resin, which is a type of plastic. It has been used as an alternative to glass in appliances and other products such as eyewear, safety goggles, shower doors and windows. Lexan can also be found in bullet-proof window coverings and it’s often the material of choice for emergency shelters because its light weight makes it easy to transport. Polycarbonate resin offers strength and durability without the weight or brittleness that you would find with regular glass.
Marguard
Margard is lexan with a proprietary hard surface coating on one or both sides. This makes it highly resistant to abrasion and weathering. Applications include:
- Anti-vandal glazing
- Security glazing
- Safety screens
- Motorcycle windshield
- Visor and face shields
- Vehicle interiors
- Laminated safety glazing
